Born in Nevada, Ryan Hamilton grew up on the east side of the valley, attending public schools before graduating from Chaparral High School in 2004. In 2009, he received his bachelor’s from the Catholic University of America and later attended graduate coursework at UNLV.
Throughout his career, Ryan has been focused on maintaining a high quality of life for all citizens, with a focus on seniors and individuals suffering from drug addiction. He is dedicated to ensuring clean, safe streets and protecting the environment from pollution, litter, and overdevelopment.
Ryan has spent the last year of his life confronting one of the most complex and pressing issues facing communities around the country: homelessness driven by drug addiction and serious mental illness. In his role at Vegas Stronger, a downtown Las Vegas nonprofit with a mission of eliminating homelessness, Ryan has been responsible for educating key decision makers and stakeholders related to best practices and pioneering a method that can be replicated in other communities to help individuals experiencing homelessness get on the path toward lasting recovery. In addition to his primary role, Ryan has helped raise over $2,000,000 toward funding for treatment and recovery services, with a focus on individuals suffering from an opiate use disorder.
Prior to his current work, Ryan was the manager for public policy and communications at the Vegas Chamber as well as serving as the managing editor of MBE Magazine, a publication dedicated to covering minority-, women-, and service-disabled, veteran-owned businesses across the country. Professionally, Ryan has worked as a nonprofit executive, campaign manager, and business advocate, promoting job creation.
Ryan lives in the southwest part of the valley with his partner and two dogs. He is committed to health and fitness and is certified by USA Weightlifting as a Level 1 Sports Performance Coach, as well as being certified by the Professional Association of Diving Instructors as a SCUBA diver. Ryan is an accomplished yoga practitioner and regularly takes ice baths.
